History & Traditions :
Nutmeg, originally from the Moluccas in Indonesia, is now grown in Sri Lanka. It was used to embalm the mummies in Egypt, but also for its healing properties in the Middle Ages. In Europe, it was burned in the streets to mask the bad odors.
Nutmeg is the nutritive envelope of the nutmeg fruit. This tree can reach up to 15 meters in height. Its hull is hard, veined and light brown.
