Christopher Columbus took the lemons on his trip to America. It was during these long journeys at sea that the beneficial properties of these fruits, notably against scurvy, were discovered. Nowadays, all scientists have demonstrated the bacteriological action of its acid components and the effects of vitamin C.
The lemon tree can reach 4 to 5 m high. The branches are small thorns, the leaves hard, elongated, pointed and slightly serrated on the edges. Lemons are grown in all tropical and subtropical regions of the world.
