History & Traditions :
This plant has been favored since ancient Egypt. It is cultivated as a condimentary plant for its very aromatic leaves and seeds and is close to the fennel by its smell, hence its names of bastard fennel or false anise.
It is an annual plant with smooth stem, from 80 to 150 cm with a spreading of about thirty centimeters. The leaves are very sharp, fine and of a bluish green color. This species is now grown in Holland, Poland, Hungary and the Balkans.
