The Clementine owes its name to Brother Clement of the Institute of the Brothers of Our Lady of the Annunciation, who was head of the Misserghin orphanage (near Oran, Algeria). Clementine is a hybrid resulting from the cross between a mandarin tree (Citrus reticulata) and an orange tree (Citrus sinensis). The clementine is a shrub 4 to 6 meters high, with very fragrant leaves and flowers. It is a seedless citrus fruit. |
