Its name would come from a transformation of the Turkish beg armudi which means "pear of the lord". It comes from a cross between a bitter orange and a lime. It is used in perfumery, cosmetics, tea and, of course, to create the delicious flavor of Nancy's Bergamot. It’s a small tree 4 meters high with fragrant white flowers. Fruits ripen between December and March. It is mainly cultivated in Calabria (Italy) and Ivory Coast. |
