History & Traditions :

Patchouli, originally from Indonesia and Malaysia, is a highly coveted raw material, especially in perfumery. Its name comes from Tamil, "patch" which means green and "ilail" which means leaf. It is used in background note in perfumes, bringing them a woody side, chypre.

It is a tropical plant that is more than one meter high. Its leaves are broad, velvety and dark green.
