In ancient Egypt, the oliban was one of the many plants used during the embalming of the dead. It has since a well-known religious and sacred symbolism, and is widely used in churches for ceremonies to purify the air. It grows under a semi-arid climate, and can reach up to 3 meters. Its flowers are white while its leaves are green. It is found in the wild in Somalia, Oman, Sudan or India. |
