History & Traditions :
Its name comes from the Greek "kistè" which means "capsule", because of the shape of its fruit. The particularity of this plant is to regenerate easily and even to multiply after the fires.
The shrubs have a height ranging from 30 cm to 1 m. Its fine green leaves are thin, covered with secretory hairs that secrete an odorous gum-resin called labdanum, preventing the plant from dehydrating. Cistuses grow most often around the Mediterranean, especially in Spain and Morocco.
